Being Human, Evolving Your Brain
Did you know many of your challenges are the result of past traumas?
As a leader who focuses on people and performance in the workplace the topic of trauma may seem "beyond the scope." We have deep rooted past patterns and systems that illogically try to seperate human beings into categories of "employee" at work and "person" at home. But the truth is...
Wherever you are your body is with you.
Our traumas (big and small) get stored in our bodies whether we are conscious of ther impact or not. And unfortunately, typically, we are totally unaware of how our past traumas are impacting our present lives.
Here are a few examples:
- Chronic Anxiety or Overhwelm
- Difficulty in Relationships - trust, attachment, intimacy
- Physcial Symptoms - headaches, muscle tension, digestion issues, chronic pain, or autoimmune conditions
- Self-Sabotaging Behaviors - procrastination, avoidance, or self-doubt
- Hypervigilance or Emotional Numbness
- Low Self-Work or Negative Self-Talk
Do you experience any of these?
I'm betting you do, we all do, because we've all experienced trauma. This trauma has a tremendous impact on our performance, relationships, work, and lives.
By ignoring the impacts of trauma on people's performance, leaders and workplaces are missing out on a huge opportunity unlock greater potential in their people.
The good news?
Trauma doesn't have to keep impacting your life, your teams, or your organization. By applying neuroscience -based practices we can create massive transformation for our cultures and people.
Reflection Questions:
- What symptoms of trauma do you recognize in your life today?
- What would you be willing to do to elminate these challenges?
- How can you learn more about the nervous system and re-wiring past patterns to improve your life and performance?
Consider:
How might implementing a few simple practices into your life dramatically improve your intelligence, intuition, and insights?
If we openly addressed trauma and provided people with the programs and resources to support them, what impact might this have? How could it impact your life, work, and even the world? If more people were consciously paying attention to their stress and nervous systems, we might make wiser deicions, have less conflict, and overall have better experiences in life.
